|What is your earliest memory of computer work?
A programming logic course using a language called FLAG. Back then, it might as well have been Sanskrit.
What do you enjoy when youre not working software?
Backwoods camping and hiking along the Appalachian trail. Flying planes. Target shooting. Cooking for my wife. Or planning my next trip. This time its Australia.
What was your most memorable GCA assignment to date?
At a manufacturer of tractor trailers and semis. I provided support programming for a system to control plant operations getting the right parts to the right place and the like. I had the chance to work closely with the people on the assembly line who made it all happen, and it was interesting to see the trucks take shape.
Where would you be if you werent in the high-tech industry?
A backwoods guide in New Zealand...but GCA's terrific work style and bonus opportunities have motivated me to stay closer to home.
What was the last book you read?
Holidays in Hell by P.J. ORourke. Illuminating places to avoid on my next traveling adventure, I guess.
What do you think will be technologys most important contribution to society in the next century?
Global telecommunications will give us the ability to communicate instantaneously worldwide, even more so then we do now. That will make us a true global community.
